Blue Sea Series

Day 19: Blue Sea 2
9"X12" Work on Paper
Acrylic Paint
The name of this series simply derived from the colors after I finished mixing them. I had no idea the final look of any piece and just went with what felt right. The results look like what one would see if swimming underwater.

Day 17: Cosmic
9"X12" Work on Paper
Acrylic Paint

I really like the look of transparency with the jewelry of the previous 2 pieces and thought they looked a bit like architecture. My imagined city was the idea for this work.

Splash of Thai

Day 14: Splash of Thai 4
9"X12" Deep Wrapped Canvas
Acrylic Paint
I took a trip to Thailand a couple of years back. All of the colors from the clothing to the Temples and Wats were so beautiful. I tried to capture that feeling in this series.

Out of the Darkness

Day 10: Out of the Darkness
16"X20" Gallery Wrapped Canvas
Acrylic Paint

This is a self portrait. I began this piece in November 2014 and it sat unfinished until recently. I stopped procrastinating about making it perfect and just painted, without my image. Felt good to let go and just paint.

Wishes and Dreams

Day 9: Wishes and Dreams
12"X12" Gallery Wrapped Canvas
Acrylic Paint

Started to paint and my lines evolved into feathers. Feathers make me thing of making a wish and dream catchers. I feel like the colors also inspire dreaming.

The Wanderer

Day 8: The Wanderer
12"X16" Gallery Wrapped Canvas
Acrylic Paint
I've realized I'm not the greatest at coming up with titles of my abstract pieces. Perhaps I'll reach out to those more clever with their words. This piece has it's name for the wandering white lines.

Tribe Series

Day 7: Tribe 6
12"X16" Gallery Wrapped Canvas
Acrylic Paint
So it felt good to start strong on the first day! However, I didn't have the time during my work week to complete anymore. Therefore, I caught up by painting 6 canvases at once. In the end, I loved how the different pieces worked together and could be hung together as a set. Working on several small canvases at once also helped with drying time and I didn't have to wait for parts to try to continue which was awesome.

The name of the series is "Tribe" for the group "A Tribe Called Quest", who's music I was jammin to during their creation.

Lavender Sunset

 Day 1: Lavender Sunset
8"X8" Gallery Wrapped Canvas
Acrylic Paint

I have decided to push myself and do the 30 paintings in 30 days Challenge. I don't typically work on canvases so small but felt that I would need to if I were going to find the time to produce so much work in a small frame of time.
